Susan is originally from Lynchburg, VA. and has been living in Columbus,GA. since graduating from the University of Georgia in 1978 with a BFA in Interior Design through the Art Department. She spent her first years after graduation working at Vista Craft Printing Co.,rising to Director of the Art Dept. After marriage and the birth of her two children she began drawing portraits on board with conte’ crayon. It was this experience which has led her full circle back to painting figures in oil, in the surroundings where they are most at home, doing the things that they know best. Today, Susan enjoys learning from her local art community and has taken many workshops and online courses to increase her knowledge of oil painting and drawing technique. “The Bo Bartlett Center has been a Godsend-literally. With masterful artists like Jordan Sokol, Amaya Gurpide, Alyssa Monks and Bo Bartlett and Betsy Eby to lead the way I know I have the doors open to finding my way. That has been invaluable.” Susan is a member of Garry Pound’s Friday morning figure drawing group-another avenue of learning in her figurative painting development.
